Quick answer

To resize an image, open Zappy Resize Image, add a JPG, PNG or WebP, then choose Pixels (for screens), Inches (for printing) or File size (to fit an upload limit). Pick a preset or enter your own size and click Resize image. It runs in your browser, so the photo is never uploaded.

How to resize an image in 3 steps

  1. Add your image

Open Resize Image and drop in a JPG, PNG or WebP up to 25 MB.

  2. Choose how to resize

Use Pixels for exact dimensions, Inches with a DPI for printing, or File size to keep the dimensions and shrink the file.

  3. Resize and download

Click Resize image. The new size is shown and the image downloads straight away.

How to resize without losing quality

  • Make images smaller, not bigger. Shrinking keeps a photo sharp. Enlarging a small image adds pixels that were never there, so it gets soft.
  • Keep the aspect ratio so faces and products don't look stretched.
  • Use PNG for screenshots, logos and text. Use JPG for photos, where it gives a much smaller file.
  • Start from the original, not a copy that has already been shrunk or sent through a chat app.

How to resize an image for printing

For print, size matters in inches, not pixels. Choose Inches, enter the print size, and pick a DPI: 300 DPI for photo prints, 150 DPI for everyday printing. A 4 × 6 inch photo at 300 DPI needs 1200 × 1800 pixels.

How to resize an image on iPhone

The Photos app can crop to a shape (tap Edit, then the crop tool and an aspect ratio such as Square), but it cannot set an exact pixel size. For exact dimensions, open Resize Image in Safari and pick the photo from your camera roll.

How to resize an image on a Mac or Windows PC

Mac: open the image in Preview, choose Tools > Adjust Size, enter the width or height with Scale proportionally checked, then save.

Windows: open the image in Paint, click Resize, choose Pixels, keep Maintain aspect ratio checked and enter the new width. In the Windows 11 Photos app, use … > Resize image.
