Yes. Choose Split every page and each page of the document becomes its own PDF. A 40-page file produces 40 files, bundled into a single ZIP so you're not clicking through forty downloads. This is the quickest way to break up a batch of scanned documents that were fed through a scanner in one go.
This page works in Safari on a Mac with nothing to install, which is usually faster than the alternatives. Preview can also do it — open the PDF, show thumbnails, select the pages you want and drag them to the desktop — but that gets tedious past a few pages and it can't produce several named ranges in one pass.
No. The pages are copied into the new files exactly as they are, with no re-compression, so text stays selectable and images keep their original resolution. A split page is byte-for-byte the same page it was in the original document.
Files up to 500MB are supported, which covers almost any scanned document. Because the work happens in your browser rather than on a server, a very large file depends on your device's memory — on an older phone a 500MB scan may be slow, while a laptop will handle it comfortably.
Not directly — an encrypted PDF can't be read until the password is removed. Open it in the free Unlock PDF tool first, enter the password you already know, then split the unprotected copy here. This only works for documents you have the password for.
No. The split runs entirely in your browser, so your document stays on your device the whole time. You can check this yourself: load the page, turn on Airplane Mode, and it still splits. There's no file on our end to store, scan or accidentally expose.
