Need to extract a single page from a multi-page PDF, separate pages into individual files or split a document by range? This guide covers all three — free online, no Adobe, works on any phone or desktop.
How it works
No software, no account. Works for single pages, page ranges and full page-by-page splits.
Open Zappy Split PDF
Go to zappy.tools/split-pdf/ — works on any browser, mobile or desktop. No signup needed.
Upload your PDF and choose split mode
Upload your PDF and choose how to split it — every page, a custom page range or specific page numbers. Preview the pages before splitting if needed.
Download your split files
Click Split and download your output files individually or as a ZIP. No watermark, no account, instant download.
Three split modes
Different situations need different split approaches. Zappy supports all three:
Every page of your PDF becomes its own file. Best for separating pages before sharing specific ones, or when each page is a different document — ID cards, certificates, individual letters.
Define ranges like pages 1–5 as File 1, pages 6–12 as File 2. Best for dividing a long report into chapters, or splitting a combined application PDF back into its original documents.
Enter the exact page numbers you want — for example, pages 2, 4 and 7. Only those pages download as a new PDF. Best for pulling out a single certificate from a multi-document scan or extracting one Aadhaar page from a combined file.
Extract specific pages
Extracting pages is the most common reason people split a PDF — you have a 10-page document but only need page 3. Here's how to do it:
Upload your PDF to Zappy Split PDF
Go to zappy.tools/split-pdf/ and upload your file. You'll see a page count and preview so you know which page numbers to target.
Select Specific Pages mode
Choose the Specific Pages option and enter the page numbers you want to extract — for example, enter "3" to extract only page 3, or "1, 3, 5" to extract multiple pages.
Download your extracted pages
Click Split — only the pages you specified download as a new PDF. Free, no watermark, no account needed.
On Mac
Mac users have two free options for splitting PDFs. Here's when to use each:
Mac Preview (built-in, free)
Open your PDF in Preview → View → Thumbnails → select the pages you want → File → Export as PDF. Simple for basic extraction but limited — no custom range splitting or multi-file output.
Zappy Split PDF in Safari (more control)
Open zappy.tools/split-pdf/ in Safari. Supports all three split modes — every page, page ranges and specific page extraction. Download individual files or a ZIP. Better for multi-file splits and precise extractions.
Common use cases
For India
Aadhaar PDFs downloaded from UIDAI often contain both the front and back pages in a single file. Many portals require these as separate uploads — one for front, one for back. Use Specific Pages mode in Zappy Split PDF to extract each page individually in under 30 seconds.
For UPSC, SSC, IBPS and state PSC applications where you need to upload specific supporting documents from a combined file, the same process applies — extract only the pages the portal requires, compress if needed using Zappy Compress PDF, and upload directly.
